The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published its proposed Conduct Requirements for Google's Search and Advertising Services.

During an evidence session in the House of Lords, John Edwards, UK Information Commissioner, stressed the independence of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in his response to questions about the government’s call for regulators to support growth.

In response to recent parliamentary questions, ministers reiterated that they are examining whether new exemptions could be introduced to align their broader economic growth agenda with the needs of the digital publishing sector.

The Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP) confirms how the new restrictions will be administered.

Revised regulation update

This week, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology made a statement in Parliament providing an update on the government’s progress on copyright and AI. 

The government has launched a consultation on the next BBC Royal Charter, which examines the regulatory framework for the public service broadcaster. The review will be overseen by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport.  

Ofcom has published a call for input on its review of postal regulation, pricing, and affordability.
