Public affairs

The PPA is the unwavering voice of the publishing industry – campaigning to defend and transform the legislative and regulatory environment.

We analyse and formulate policies, in collaboration with our members advocating for their best interests so they can continue to focus on innovating in a fast-moving landscape.

Our outreach spans various stakeholders – including ministers, government bodies, regulators, peers, MPs, and allied organisations. This, combined with our strong relationships with key figures in the policy-making process, allows us to influence policy from its conceptual stages to its implementation.

The PPA works alongside members to ensure their voices are heard and counted where it matters. We organise meetings with senior officials (including MPs and their local publishing businesses), contribute formal submissions to policy consultations, input into allied organisations’ policy-making, and raise public awareness.

PPA members are at the forefront of the industry and are best placed to provide evidence of the impacts of government policy, and it’s our job to present this to those responsible for driving change at the time and place it has the most impact.
