WIRED UK's Summer Event Series Kicks Off with WIRED Innovated & WIRED Pulse: Quantum

WIRED UK is kicking off its summer event series with the first two installments taking place as virtual conferences on Friday 7th May.

WIRED Innovate, a special live broadcast exploring the future of sustainability across fashion, food, health and technology will run as a punchy 90-minute episode in the morning. WIRED Innovate introduces six fascinating individuals paving the way to a greener future, including:

• Tessa Clarke – In order to fight food waste, Tessa Clarke co-founded OLIO, a free app connecting neighbours with each other, and volunteers with local businesses, so that surplus food can be given away, not thrown away.

• Christopher Raeburn – A pioneer in the reworking of surplus fabrics and garments for luxury fashion, Christopher Raeburn is the Founder and Creative Director of British fashion label RÆBURN, as well as the Global Creative Director of Timberland.

• Cecilia Harvey – Tech Women Today founder Cecilia Harvey is the CEO and co-founder of Hyve Dynamics, a technology firm providing sensor technology and data insights. Cecilia was featured in British Vogue's 2020 'Forces for Change' campaign.

In the afternoon, WIRED Pulse: Quantum will break down the complex topic of quantum computing and explore the technology that is transforming medicine, breaking encryption and revolutionising communications and artificial intelligence in a live, 90-minute broadcast. The event will feature a series of top-level talks from the pioneers shaping the future of quantum computing, including:

• whurley (William Hurley) – Tech entrepreneur whurley is the founder and CEO of Strangeworks, a quantum computing startup working to make the power of quantum computing easily accessible and available to all.

• Leonie Mueck – As Chief Product Officer for quantum software company Riverlane, Leonie Mueck is responsible for building, commercialising and marketing Riverlane’s product lines.

• Ilana Wisby – An advisor to the WEF’s Future Council on Quantum, Ilana Wisby is the founding CEO of Oxford Quantum Circuits, which develops the UK's most advanced quantum computer to date.

Both events are editorially curated by WIRED and are designed for the wider public for ages 16+. WIRED would also like to thank its WIRED Innovate event partners Vienna Business Agency and ViennaUP ‘2 (a festival dedicated to celebrating startups), as well as its supporting partner arper.

WIRED Innovate will run virtually co-located with WIRED Pulse: Quantum – combo tickets to both events are available here.
