The organisers of the 2018 edition of the Event Technology Awards (ETA), which was held in November in London, called in event management platform Evessio to develop the awards’ website and to provide the back-end system.

“We were so impressed with Evessio that we decided right away to ask them to do the 2019 edition of ETA for us as well,” says Adam Parry, co-founder of ETA. Parry is also director and editor of Event Industry News, an online magazine that provides the latest news, views and reviews of the events industry.

“We sent a folder of information about what we wanted and back came the perfect website,” says Parry. “It had really been thought about and all the options we’re likely to need are a part of the package rather than add-ons after the fact, which makes a real difference.”

Founded in 2015, Evessio has already picked up a good number of clients in the media industry. including EMAP, Media 10, Easyfairs, Dentsu Aegis Network, TES Global, Imago Techmedia, part of Clarion Events, companies in the Reed group and DVV Media International.

Thomas Howie, COO of Evessio, says people in the media industry have a higher expectation than most of what an event website should look like. “Evessio websites are up-to-date, they look amazing, but the back-end, the engine room, is where the real value is.

“News publishers will find our user behaviour capabilities especially useful. We know one of the challenges that publishers face is to understand their readers’ behaviour better – so that they can deliver a better service to the readers themselves and also to advertisers.”

Might Evessio themselves be up for an award at next year’s ETA? “Who knows?” says Howie. “We already regard the fact that leaders in the events industry trust us to provide the software for their very own events as quite a significant feather in our cap.”
