Influence

As well as formulating and analysing policies, we also advocate for these policies to allow our members to innovate at pace, whilst defending elements of the UK’s regulatory environment that are already optimal for our members. To do this, we engage with a broad range of stakeholders from Government Ministers and regulators to MPs, peers, and numerous allied organisations and interested businesses. Our deep relationships with key players in the policy making process allow us to exert influence at the right time and with the actors best placed to have a real impact, from a policy’s’ first inception right through to implementation.

This ensures that our members’ voices are heard at every stage of policy development, and a key benefit of coming together as an industry is our ability to influence decision makers with evidence led policy proposals and analysis. This influence is exerted through meetings with Ministers, regulators and parliamentarians, formal submissions to policy consultations, input into allied organisations’ policy making, and raising public awareness through a finely tuned media strategy. We also demonstrate the value of our industry to MPs by facilitating meetings with their local publishing businesses, so please get in touch if you would like the PPA to organise a visit.

We know that our members are best placed to provide evidence of the impacts of Government policy, and have the expertise regarding what changes are necessary to allow you to grow your organisation at pace. It’s our job to take this evidence and present it to the policy makers best placed to drive change, at the time and in the form that will have the most impact. We know that our industry is strongest when we come together to call for real change, and this is what allows us to influence at the highest level.
