BBC Sky at Night Magazine Launches Back Garden Astronomy Week

BBC Sky at Night Magazine has today launched Back Garden Astronomy Week; a campaign designed to inspire the nation to discover the wonders of stargazing.

The Inaugural Week takes place Saturday 2nd to Sunday 10th February.

Devised by the BBC Sky at Night Magazine team, each amateur observer who signs up via www.skyatnightmagazine.com/backgarden will be guided through how to find some of the most alluring objects in the night sky, all of which will be visible from the back garden with just a pair of binoculars.

Sign up before the week starts on Saturday 2nd February, and those taking part will receive a free 50-page digital starter pack, and a daily newsletter during Back Garden Astronomy Week containing all the advice that beginners need, including; how to get your eyesight used to the dark, how best to navigate the night sky, and which are the best targets to see.

BBC Sky at Night magazine is thrilled to welcome a number of partners for Back Garden Astronomy Week, including the UK Space Agency, We The Curious, Exmoor National Park, Royal Museums Greenwich, North York Moors and publishers Harper Collins.

Chris Bramley, Editor of BBC Sky at Night Magazine commented, “We’re really excited to be helping people experience some of the best sights the night sky has to offer with this campaign, and it’s brilliant to have such a strong line up of partners. With their support, we’re hoping to reach a whole new audience of budding astronomers and start them off on a fascinating life-long hobby.”

Those keen to to kickstart a journey of discovery to the stars, just simply need to sign up at www.skyatnightmagazine.com/backgarden
