Bauer Media’s iconic monthly music bible Q Magazine today launches a weekly podcast
The launch marks an addition to a growing roster of highly successful podcasts from the teams behind EMPIRE, Pilot TV and Grazia.
Q Presents…The Making Of is a weekly podcast from the makers of Q Magazine focused upon the life and times of a celebrated recording artist.
Each week, Q Editor Ted Kessler meets a superstar songwriter and performer to discuss their highs and lows, the music that influenced them, their life beyond music and the songs that define them.
Commenting on the launch, he said: “The idea of the Q podcast is to be an extension and reflection of the magazine: we want both to be places where influential musicians allow us to tell amazing stories about their lives and work. I’ve recorded a few episodes of Q Presents The Making Of and – through no skill of my own – the podcast has exceeded all our expectations in terms of fascinating drama and hilarious anecdote, from Jah Wobble setting fire to housemate’s furniture to Miki Berenyni being arrested in a Leeds bus station to Loyle Carner’s life-saving cookery school. I’m really excited for everyone to hear it all unfold.”
The team has also resurrected Smash Hits’ famous Biscuit Tin inquisition, devised to unlock pop stars’ deepest secrets.
The first episode, featuring Jason Williamson of punk duo Sleaford Mods, is available to download from today. In it he describes his journey from furious no-hoper to furious 40-something pop star.
Music fans can also look forward to interviews with artists including Loyle Carner, Jah Wobble, SOAK, Green Gartside of Scritti Politti, Miki Bereyni of Lush, Fat White Family and Andrew Bird.
