MOJO will celebrate its 300th issue this month, publishing a tribute collector’s issue commemorating The Beatles’ legendary White Album.
The statement minimalist cover, printed almost entirely white and free of its usual cover lines, hits newsstands later this week.
Launch Editor Paul Du Noyer returns to MOJO to provide the full inside story of The Beatles‘ radically revamped White Album. Alongside Du Noyer, previous Editors of the magazine – Mat Snow, Paul Trynka, Pat Gilbert and Phil Alexander – make contributions.
The issue features interviews with: Damon Albarn, Neneh Cherry, Elvis Costello, Ray Davies, The Edge, John Fogerty, Ian Gillan, Julia Holter, Roger McGuinn, Krist Novoselic, Yoko Ono, Jimmy Page, Paul Simon, Paul Simonon, Jack White and Ronnie Wood.
This special edition of MOJO also includes an exclusive CD, _The MOJO Anthology_, with tracks from some of the best-loved artists of _MOJO_’s lifetime, including U2, Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Marr, Nick Cave, Noel Gallagher, St Vincent and Paul Weller. Of the 15 rare tracks, six are previously unreleased.
MOJO Editor John Mulvey said: “Twenty-five years ago, in the very first issue of _MOJO_, our Founding Editor Paul Du Noyer wrote, ‘Our aim is to cover the best music we know, in the best way we know how. We’ll tell some untold stories and make some fresh connections…We’ll try to present it beautifully. We will insult nobody’s intelligence.’ Two hundred and ninety-nine more issues down the line, we’re proud to stand by this mission statement.
“Great records are still being made. Untold stories remain to be discovered. A heartening number of people treasure a monthly magazine that invests in the best music with undimmed enthusiasm and commitment,” he added.
The issue, priced £5.99, will be available at newsstands or online.
