Readly, the global digital magazine subscription service, and Papercut Limited have launched a collaboration special called ‘For Seniors’ - a series of guides designed to support the over-55 age group, enabling them to be more confident, proficient and safe with technology
The ‘For Seniors’ publications by Papercut Limited are available exclusively via the Readly app.
Latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that 18% of the UK population is over the age of 65 with as many as one in three in some regions. An increasing number of older people are embracing smart phones, tablets and social technology. Four in ten (39%) of those aged 65-74 are using a smartphone and 15% of those over 75 are using tablets.
Ranj Begley, Chief Content Officer and UK MD at Readly, commented, "With an ageing population, it is essential we support people to embrace the digital era so they are included and can benefit from all that is available to them.”
He added, “We are delighted to launch a Readly Exclusive aimed at supporting the older generation with modern technology. It is an exciting development that adds value to our subscription service and encourages technology to be accessible to everyone. Exclusive content has become a natural part of film and music streaming services and we are happy to be offering this for the magazine streaming world.”
James Gale, Editorial Director, Papercut Limited comments: "Our goal with this initiative is to build confidence and increase knowledge and use of technology for the non-tech-savvy. Getting the basics in place has the potential to enhance how the older generation communicate, enable new opportunities for hobbies and work, improve confidence and make them feel more connected to younger generations who are using tech in everyday life.”
The ’For Seniors’ series includes:
– Mac for Seniors Readly Exclusive
– Samsung Galaxy for Seniors Readly Exclusive
– Photography for Seniors Readly Exclusive
– Black & White Photography for Seniors Readly Exclusive
– Photoshop Lightroom for Seniors Readly Exclusive
The ‘Exclusive’ concept was initially trialed by Readly last year. The first magazine was a digital special issue of Computer Bild from Germany’s biggest publisher Axel Springer followed by a series of iPhone manuals in the UK by Blackdog Media Ltd.
