The PPA has announced the launch of the first-ever industry-wide diversity and inclusion survey, offering insight into the industry as a whole, with a view to identify representation, track progress made, and help tackle challenges.
Created with EA Inclusion, this is the first time the entire industry has united and committed to an initiative of this scale, and the PPA are proud to be leading in this key area.
PPA CEO Owen Meredith said: “We all know how important it is to ensure we have diverse and inclusive workplaces, as the many initiatives to support D&I across our industry demonstrate.
“However, a question we too often face in understanding the challenges in this area is a lack of data. That is why the PPA is bringing our industry together with this landmark survey, to provide a snapshot of our workforce and create a benchmark from which we can strive to improve.
“This is very much the next step on a journey to improve diversity and representation at all levels across our industry, and I am delighted that we can take this step together. I encourage all PPA members and companies working in our industry to take part in this important survey.”
This year the PPA introduced the first ever Diversity Initiative of the Year Awards at both the PPA Awards in June, and the Independent Publisher Awards in November, recognising the efforts of publishers who are working to tackle barriers facing entry and progression.
It is anticipated the PPA will report on finding from the survey in Spring 2021.
