Industry charity NewstrAid is inviting everyone in the news trade to take part in 5kMay, a fundraising initiative to help raise money for colleagues facing hardship.
5KMay asks participants to take on a 5k challenge, donate £5 to NewstrAid and then nominate 5 people to do the same during the month of May. The 5k challenge can involve any activity at all, people can walk, cycle, hop, roll, swim, run etc. and they can complete the 5k in one hit or across a number of days during May. The most important thing is to get out, get active and feel good whilst helping the charity.
Last year 5kMay, organised by Run for Heroes, raised millions for NHS charities. This year Run for Heroes have teamed up with charities like NewstrAid to raise much needed funds for a wide range of different causes after what has been a very difficult year for the non-profit sector.
Mike Mirams CEO of NewstrAid said “Get outside to do something healthy that helps people from our own industry. What could be better and it’s so easy too! We are delighted to be part of 5kMay this year and hope our colleagues will take the opportunity to get involved, especially after such a difficult year when more people than ever need our support.”
Anyone interested in taking part can find more information on the NewstrAid website: www.newstraid.org.uk/5kMay
Donations to NewstrAid can be made via Just Giving: https://runforheroes.justgiving.com/get-involved?charityId=3085810
Further details about the national 5KMay event and how to sign up can be found on the Run for Heroes website.
