Recent PPA steering group and community updates

The PPA provides regular opportunities for you and your teams to access expert content, network with peers, and learn from those who share similar challenges. This quarter has been busy, below is a quick round-up of a few highlights.

Business Media Network

This group provides an opportunity for leaders in the business media space to meet and discuss common challenges they are facing in their own businesses and share ideas for transformation and innovation to help them adapt, grow, and thrive.

In the most recent meeting, the group discussed issues that were front of mind including:

  • Resourcing, staffing, and how to cope in a hybrid world
  • How to leverage event success and move event engagement into subscriptions
  • Increasing lead generation capabilities
  • Tactics to build own databases – newsletter and content syndication
  • Investing in international markets

Business Media Network members include: BMJ, Euromonitor, Faversham House, Haymarket Media Group, Incisive Media, Mark Allen Group, Newsquest Specialist Media, Hemming Group, The Drum, and William Reed.

Commercial Strategy

Bringing together commercial leaders for learning, networking, and strategical discussions around marketing solutions and commercial best practice, this group is open to PPA member firms in the b2b space. The aim of the steering group is to address key challenges like recruitment and retention, discuss relevant metrics for tracking and improving performance, and encourage members to build a network of peers in similar job functions.

In the most recent meeting, the focus was on attracting the next generation of talent into the industry, how company culture can affect staff retention, and how companies are now developing ED&I strategies and staff codes of conduct around events.

Next time the group will discuss reward, remuneration, and commission structures, and how all of these can aid staff retention.

PPA Next Gen Board – first meeting

Following the successful launch of the PPA Next Gen Board, a dynamic initiative uniting sixteen publishers from diverse backgrounds in the magazine publishing sector, we are pleased to provide an update after the completion of our first-ever meeting.

Chaired by Jane Wolfson, the meeting brought together these rising stars with six high-profile industry experts as mentors. The board’s focus on ED&I and talent, sustainability, and the future of AI in the industry has already shown promising insights and outcomes.

The meeting served as a platform for the members to showcase their innovative ideas and perspectives. Harnessing their abilities and expertise will undoubtedly drive positive change and shape the future of our industry.
