PPA Independent Publisher Award winners announced

The awards are a celebration of the exceptional businesses, teams, and individuals propelling the growing independent publishing community.

The entries were judged by a highly experienced panel and two new award categories were created for 2023 – Innovation of the Year and Video Content of the Year.

Winners were awarded from across the whole of the industry from highly respected editors, world-class writers, marketing experts, and commercial stars, innovative events and excellent digital products, to the design and creativity that bring these independent publishing brands to life.

The event was hosted by comedian, presenter, writer and actor Jen Brister.  A regular presenter on BBC 6 Music, BBC Scotland and Juice FM, as well as a contributor to brands such as Diva, g2, Standard Issue and Huffington Post.

Sajeeda Merali, PPA CEO commented: “These awards showcase the incredible businesses, talent, ideas and innovation that are spearheading growth within the independent publishing community. Advertisers and agencies continue to invest in these magazine brands for their quality trusted content and creative formats that produce engaging campaigns and superb results.”

  • Cover of the Year – Wanderlust April/May 2023, Wanderlust Travel Media
  • Creative Director/Designer of the Year – Isabella Fernandes, OcadoLife, Sunday
  • Digital Product of the Year – Propolis, b2b marketing
  • Diversity and Inclusion Award – Every Person Counts, Assemble Media Group
  • Editor of the Year – Chloe McCulloch, Building, Assemble Media Group
  • Event of the Year – PONY Magazine Big Day Out, PONY Magazine, DJ Murphy
  • Game Changer of the Year – Oliver Warley, Pink News
  • Independent Publishing Company of the Year (less than £3m) – Western Business Media
  • Independent Publishing Company of the Year (£3m to £10m) – Faversham House
