Bauer Media has signed up to the UK government’s new ‘kickstart’ scheme to provide routes into the media industry, in the latest step in the company’s commitment to greater diversity and inclusion.

The placements across Bauer's multi-platform media and entertainment brands will provide a unique experience for young people seeking their first role in the media industry.

In order to attract the very best talent, Bauer are committed to ensuring equal opportunity for all that want to work at Bauer and constantly review the best way to attract and recruit new people from all backgrounds into the business.

In signing up to this innovative new scheme which has been created for 16-24-year-old jobseekers, Bauer is looking to welcome applicants from across the UK, with the successful candidates able to develop their skills in one of the world’s largest media companies.

The programme will be run by the Bauer Academy, the Government registered training division of Bauer Media, which provides Apprenticeship Standard training for Bauer’s radio and publishing professionals and other companies including ITV, Reach PLC, Immediate Media. Work placements will be available within all core areas of the business, from broadcasting and journalism, to sales and marketing.

Bauer Media’s People and Culture Director, Sarah Barnes said: “At Bauer we work hard to level the playing field so that all can access opportunities within our teams, and so we were really drawn by the government’s fantastic new kickstart programme that aims to give unemployed young people a future.

“These promising young individuals will have the unique opportunity to apply for placements that provide on-the-job training, skills development and mentoring from some of the UK media industry’s most well-respected professionals, giving them the well-deserved first break that can so often be hard to come by, particularly in the ongoing climate.”

The placements will commence within Bauer from November 2020. Applicants should head to the jobhelp website for more information. For further information on the Kickstart scheme, head to the Government website.
