We are focused on the fundamental topics impacting our future, including equality, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I), net zero planning, and recruitment and retention challenges.
The PPA regularly commissions an industry-wide diversity and inclusion survey to help benchmark progress in our sector. The results of this survey inform the road map for the PPA ED&I Working Group, which endeavours to champion diversity initiatives and promote best practice among our members.
Talent attraction and retention has been a central focus of discussion. As an industry that boasts careers across a wide range of disciplines, fostering diversity and inclusion is fundamental for ensuring we have a future.

The climate emergency has seen government, consumers, and businesses increasingly prioritise sustainability and environmental responsibility.
By its very nature, the publishing industry is a mass consumer of raw materials and energy. Therefore, the PPA and its members must increasingly adopt a proactive role and set the standard for sustainability in our sector.
In 2023 we launched the PPA Action Net Zero Pathway. It unites the specialist media industry in reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and tackling the climate emergency. Those already signed up aim to decarbonise and achieve net zero emissions across the sector by 2050, making significant reductions by 2030.
The PPA Sustainability Action Group also meets quarterly to discuss current challenges.
