This marks the first time Harper’s Bazaar UK has made limited-edition prints available to purchase.
Known for her meticulous hand-painted miniatures on paint charts, Spelling has created a bespoke piece titled Shades of Flat and Lustre Finishes. Comprising 72 individual paint chips, the work explores the ideas, imagery, and attitude that have defined Harper’s Bazaar throughout the decades. The artwork will be unveiled in three stages across successive issues of Harper’s Bazaar UK, beginning in the September issue.
The final work will be revealed on 8 October via a roll fold in Bazaar’s art-themed November issue, when 300 limited-edition prints will go on sale at studiospelling.com.
As part of the partnership, Spelling will create a Harper’s Bazaar UK Christmas card, which will be available to purchase from 3 September. The artist will also co-host two events: an intimate breakfast for Bazaar Privé members at House of Hearst in central London, and an exclusive dinner at Mark’s Club in Mayfair as part of the 2026 Bazaar Art Party.
Lydia Slater, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar UK, said: “Harper’s Bazaar has a proud heritage of celebrating visionary women in the art world. We’re extremely excited to partner with Rachel Spelling on this special commission, which reimagines our rich 150-year archive through her distinctive creative vision.”
Rachel Spelling said: The Harper’s Bazaar archive is a thing of great beauty and interest. It’s a fascinating, intricately detailed chronicle of the lives of women in a constantly changing world. It’s been a total joy to have had unlimited access to this brilliant resource and to channel everything I’ve seen, read and learnt into a brand new piece of work.
