New PPA Scotland Chair Sally Hampton pledged to listen to and represent members, at her welcome reception in DC Thomson Media’s offices in Dundee yesterday.
She told an audience of magazine publishers and related professionals that she aims to build on the inclusive nature of our industry in order to foster communication and collaboration, during the two years of her role as Chair.
“It feels uplifting to be holding this reception at a time when we have so much longevity and also so much renewal to celebrate in the Scottish magazine industry,” Hampton added.
2019 marks 150 years of The People’s Friend, 20 years of Holyrood magazine and 35 years of The Drum’s publishers Carnyx Group.
Sally Hampton took over as PPA Scotland Chair from The Big Issue editor Paul McNamee in January. She has an illustrious career in magazines that includes editing My Weekly, The Scots Magazine and No 1 for DC Thomson Media.
In her current role as Consumer Magazines Publisher, she identifies opportunities to grow DC Thomson’s titles by launching extensions to existing brands, and launching new products across a variety of platforms.
PPA Scotland Business Manager Laura Dunlop said: “I have absolutely no doubt that Sally’s knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm – coupled with her passion for publishing – will be an asset for PPA Scotland and for all our members.”
She added: “We at PPA firmly believe that our network is stronger when we work together – and we will continue to be a strong voice representing the interests of our members.”
