Vogue Launch A Special British Vogue Auction in Partnership with Hewi

For 'The Way We Wore' project, 23 women including Gigi Hadid, Helena Christensen, Joan Smalls, Lily Aldridge, Paloma Elsesser and Christy Turlington Burns have selected treasured pieces from their own wardrobes to auction off.

The Way We Wore auction, in partnership with HEWI, launches on Tuesday 9th June at 2pm BST and will remain open for 72 hours via the following link: Vogue.hardlyeverwornit.com. You will have the chance to bid on pieces from each model and the chance to purchase a limited-edition print of their lockdown selfies that appear in the magazine’s July issue, priced at £50. One hundred per cent of the funds we raise will be shared equally between the NHS Charities Together and the NAACP.

Edward Enninful, Editor in Chief of British Vogue said: “I’ve been so touched to see how my own industry has been rallying during the pandemic. Some of fashion’s leading models are taking part in a special British Vogue project to raise money for NHS Charities Together and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, by each selecting a look from their own wardrobe to auction off. I am delighted to reveal a galaxy of catwalk stars who have self-documented – in spectacular style – and written about treasured pieces in the July issue of the magazine. Their at-home photographs are so joyful, and their choices so personal, I hope you will all be encouraged to bid and raise funds for these worthy causes."

When it came to looking for a partner to work with on the auction element, British Vogue wanted an organisation who would dedicate as much care and attention to the project as the models had. The British luxury resale website Hardlyeverwornit.com instantly sprang to mind, as many of British Vogue’s fashion editors have purchased items from its polished edit of high fashion items in the past.

Sharon Wolter-Ferguson, Founder of HEWI said: “There is no doubt that the past weeks have brought challenges to us all. HEWI is proud to collaborate with British Vogue and the wonderful women who have donated such special items to raise funds for two incredibly worthy causes. Firstly, NHS Charities Together and secondly, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Please get involved: make a bid, buy a beautiful poster, donate.”

This special project feels especially poignant in the month that an NHS midwife features on the cover of Vogue, along with two other frontline workers, as part of a cover story that celebrates everyday heroes. The July issue of British Vogue is available on newsstands and via digital download now.
