Oliver Dowden has been appointed as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
He replaces Nicky Morgan who has stood down following her ascension to the House of Lords.
He was Cabinet Office Minister previously, a role designed to coordinate implementation of Government policy that was not Brexit-related. This is his first Cabinet-level role.
Prior to entering politics he was a lawyer, and then worked in public affairs for LLM and H&K. He then joined the Conservative Party as Deputy Campaigns Director, and then worked for the PM’s Comms Director, Andy Coulson. He then joined David Cameron’s team, becoming his Deputy Chief of Staff.
Nigel Huddleston MP, Caroline Dinenage MP and John Whittingdale MP have also been appointed at DCMS.
