New Editor for Model Rail Magazine

George Dent has been appointed editor Bauer Media's Model Rail magazine.

Currently Deputy Editor, George has been a leading professional modelmaker for over 20 years, with an international reputation for creating lifelike miniatures and a passion for passing on his practical knowledge to a new generation of hobbyists, says Bauer Media.

Since joining Model Rail magazine in 2004, continues Bauer, George has inspired and entertained countless readers with his practical features, hands-on classes and instructional films, along with a series of highly acclaimed books.

With a background in art, design and photography – and a lifelong passion for railways – George has sought to continually improve Model Rail’s visual aspect and has also been instrumental in multiple editorial innovations, including the emergence of the Workbench, Know Your Stuff and Skills Station brands, engaging and encouraging readers while generating sponsorship opportunities.

Commenting on the appointment, Sam Gallimore, Managing Director of Bauer Media UK’s Hobbies portfolio, said: “As Deputy Editor, George has pursued a greater diversity for Model Rail, in terms of contributors, content and reach. He is committed to supporting the wider craft and hobby community and in his new role as editor he will seek to explore more opportunities for Model Rail Exclusive products and multi-media content.”

George commented: “Now that we’re all spending more time at home, it’s an exciting time for the hobby industry and I’m thrilled to be taking over the helm at Model Rail. My mission is to continue inspiring and encouraging readers and to welcome a new generation of modellers to this wonderful hobby.”

George succeeds Richard Foster who has been editor of Model Rail since 2014 and leaves the company to pursue other opportunities.
