Net-A-Porter announces the launch of Pieces of Me: My Life in 7 Garments, a weekly podcast series created by Porter.
The podcast series launched on March 11 on Net-A-Porter and all podcast networks including Apple, Spotify and Google.
According to Porter, the series will feature life reflections from seven incredible women who recount defining moments from their life through the clothing they wore at the time. Conversations range from women such as Tracee Ellis Ross (who opens the series) to Halima Aden, Sinéad Burke and more. “Piece by piece”, said Porter, “we celebrate the power of fashion, as clothes are never just clothes.”
Tracee opens up about her childhood, her Golden Globe win 44 years after her mother Diana Ross won hers, visiting the Obamas at the White House, and her unapologetic joy of dressing up. The series continues each week and future podcasts will include director and artist Sam Taylor Johnson who delves into her archives and women’s rights activist Zainab Salbi who looks back on her journey from growing up in Iraq to the dress she wore for her arranged marriage.
“Pieces of Me reminds us that clothes are never just clothes and that the meanings woven through them – about beauty, power, identity, freedom, and fashion as a force-for-change – are the stories of women’s lives,” said Sarah Bailey, Editor in Chief of Porter.
The launch of the Pieces of Me follows the announcement of enhancements to Net-A-Porter’s content proposition last year with a greater investment in digital and video. Pieces of Me – My Life in Seven Garments will launch weekly every Wednesday from March 11 – April 22.
