Markus, who has been in the role of Global CTIO since July 2018, will be appointed COO of Bauer’s publishing business from February 1, 2021. In this newly-created role he will have specific responsibility for the development of new business opportunities across all territories in the Business Area but will also work closely with the BA management team on additional core publishing projects. Before joining Bauer Media in 2013, Markus was employed in the IT and communications sectors and worked in businesses such as freenet and Mobilcom. Markus will report to Rob Munro-Hall, President Business Area Publishing.

As Global CTIO, Spencer will be responsible for technical leadership, vision and transformation at Bauer Media. He joined the company in March 2020 as Global Technology Director for Publishing, accountable for all technologies relating to Bauer’s publishing business. Prior to that, he held senior positions in the media industry, including at Dow Jones, News Corporation and the BBC. Spencer will take on the new role in addition to his existing responsibilities and report to Veit Dengler, COO of Bauer Media.
